Information about calculating travel costs

The contribution shown in the offer list is a non-binding estimate of the fuel costs. Unless stated otherwise, it applies to a one-way journey with exactly one passenger. The amount per passenger decreases when several passengers travel together.

The form below can estimate the fare based on fuel consumption and the total number of people in the car. Fuel is only part of the actual cost of driving, which also highlights the financial benefit of carpooling. At €0.20 per kilometre, a 50 km journey—or 100 km for the return trip—already costs €400 over 20 working days. Travelling with one passenger can save €200 per month.

Depending on the agreement, the driver and passengers may share not only fuel costs but also operating costs such as tax, insurance and repairs. A simple approach is to agree a flat rate, for example €0.20 per kilometre, that includes all costs.

The cost per person can then be calculated using this formula:

(Agreed rate × kilometres travelled) / number of people sharing the cost, for example two people
